Working at IUAA as the Stewardship and Development Student Fellow has been a dream. Not only have I worked on so many amazing projects, but I had the pleasure to meet some amazing notable alumni as well. All the skills and experience from this position have allowed me to challenge my strategies in other areas of my life as a student, something I would have lacked if not for this opportunity.
Throughout this school year, I have been able to think more about the undergraduate, graduate, and alumni experience, and how we can create a correlation. I was able to use this idea to bridge some gaps in areas such as extracurriculars and student organizations. Through Culture of Care, we were able to participate in our first ever Homecoming and bridge the gap with some of our graduate students and alumni of the organization. Homecoming was a great experience for the members of Culture of Care, and I would not have known about the opportunity without being a part of the Student Alumni Association. I also joined the IU Student Foundation because of IUSAA’s work with them, and it was truly one of the best decisions I’ve made in my college life. Being able to work with both the Foundation and Alumni Association has allowed me to view my undergraduate experience with more depth than I originally would have.

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to present my final project to staff, alumni and donors. I had an amazing time sharing my experience as a first-year student fellow and showcasing the projects have finished over the year. I was especially happy to celebrate with the other students, my parents, and my lovely benefactor – Lynn Lewis. I was able to illustrate the skills I learned this year: the importance of good governance, how the nonprofit sector operates in higher education, effective communication, programs like Microsoft and Canva, and collaboration with other student fellows and my supervisor, Rebecca Keith. I cannot be more grateful for an amazing year in a position I absolutely love. It is extremely rare to have such an amazing job in college, but I am beyond lucky to love every second of my experience at the IU Alumni Association.
