Brooklin Sims, BS’20 and MJ’22, serves on the Board for the Groups Alumni Association. Her involvement in the organization stems from the immensely positive and impactful experience she had as a Groups Scholar on the IU Bloomington campus. During her time as a student, she served on the Groups Conduct Board and participated in IU Women’s Rugby.
Despite her graduation taking place during a global pandemic, Brooklin overcame layered challenges and completed an AmeriCorps term of service. While she always knew she had an interest in law, Brooklin decided that the traditional law school path was not for her. Instead, she pursued a Master of Jurisprudence through IUPUI’s McKinney School of Law. This degree is designed for ambitious working professionals who regularly navigate the law in their work, and Brooklin chose to focus her courses on her profession: employment and human resources.
Brooklin said that both of her parents are also alumni of the Groups Scholars program, so her involvement in the Groups Alumni Association is both personal and professional. She hopes to kindle relationships between current students and alumni to demonstrate how the Groups support system follows students once they graduate.
