As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my academic journey, I find myself reflecting on my experiences with the Student Alumni Association (SAA) at Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA). Over the past two years, my involvement with the SAA has been nothing short of transformative, providing me with invaluable insights into the concept of stewardship and its profound impact on both current students and alumni.
Stewardship, to me, embodies the idea of responsibility and care for something greater than oneself. It encompasses nurturing and preserving the relationships and resources that form the foundation of a community. Through my involvement with the SAA, I’ve learned that stewardship extends far beyond mere administration; it’s about fostering meaningful connections, cultivating a sense of belonging, and ensuring the legacy of excellence endures for generations to come.
One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned about stewardship is the importance of collaboration and inclusivity. Working alongside dedicated individuals, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of teamwork in advancing the mission of the IUAA. Whether it was coordinating homecoming events, participating in board meetings, or engaging with alumni, every endeavor underscored the collective effort required to uphold the values of stewardship.
As I look towards the future, I am filled with hope and optimism for the next generation of stewards within the SAA. With the guidance of inspiring mentors and the dedication of passionate students, I am confident that the legacy of stewardship will continue to thrive. As I transition to pursue my master’s degree in information systems through the Kelley School of Business, I am grateful for the experiences and relationships forged during my time with the SAA. I am reminded of the countless alumni who have generously contributed their time, resources, and wisdom to support the IUAA community.
In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have made my journey with the SAA possible. To Rebecca Keith, Eryn Wisler, and the many others who have inspired and mentored me along the way, thank you for your unwavering commitment to stewardship. To Lynn Lewis, thank you for providing the scholarship that not only allowed me to get through college debt free, but that also allowed me to see a side of Indiana University that I never realized has such a major impact on students and alumni of all IU campuses. As I take the lessons learned and the memories cherished with me into the next chapter of my life, I remain dedicated to upholding the spirit of stewardship in all that I do.
Together, let us continue to nurture and safeguard the legacy of excellence that defines the IUAA community. Here’s to a future filled with endless possibilities and a steadfast commitment to stewardship.
