Fulfilling the Promise to our Students

Thanks to the generosity of our many alumni around the world and the hard work of volunteer alumni leaders, it was another incredible year for supporting students at Indiana University! Donations by several hundred individuals allowed our many scholarship programs to disperse $163,190 to 141 students. In April alone, in the spirit of IU Day, more than 600 individual gifts were made to various IUAA scholarships, many of which were the direct result of promotion by volunteer leaders.

Here’s a bit more about the 2018-2019 IUAA Scholarship Program Cohort:

  • Average SAT: 1254
  • Average GPA: 3.58
  • 32% of recipients are out-of-state students; 68% are Indiana residents
  • 81% of recipients have some form of financial need
  • 4,795 applications received for IUAA Scholarships

Our alumni leaders supported the Chartered Alumni Communities Program’s Scholarship Campaign in a myriad of ways this year. From activating IU Day fund.ly accounts to securing chapter sponsorships to raising awareness of the many scholarships available for the students, IUAA would not be able to make a difference like this without you!

Several IUAA chapters took the time to recognize their scholarship recipients in creative ways, adding a personal touch to the experience of receiving a scholarship. The Nashville Chapter combined their Student Send-off and in-person recognition of their scholarship recipient, culminating with a fun social event at a minor league baseball game where alumni, current and prospective students and their families had the chance to connect together. In Central Indiana, the chapter held a special invite-only reception to honor their scholarship recipients.

However you participated in student scholarship campaigns, THANK YOU! You are a part of Fulfilling the Promise we’ve made to the students of Indiana University.
