I am thrilled to be on the IU Alumni Communities team (I am pictured here with my new colleague Jennifer Gentry) and looking forward to having the opportunity learn about and actively support all the wonderful things IU Alumni are doing to celebrate IU in their lives. I am working with seven of our affiliate groups located at IUB: Marching Hundred Alumni Council, Singing Hoosiers Alumni Council, Student Publications (IDS/Arbutus), John Whittenberger Society , IU Dance Marathon, IU Auditorium, and the Hutton Honors College Alumni.

I have a B.A. from Colgate University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University. I worked for 12 years as a marketing professional helping large corporations build and extend their brands into new product categories.  I have spent the last several years raising my two children, but I am now excited to begin a new chapter of my career actively supporting IU Alumni Communities.

I have lived in Bloomington for 7 years and during that time became an active volunteer and leader in the IU chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta and our local Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington.  When I moved to Bloomington from Iowa City, I leveraged my membership in the sorority and past alumni board service to volunteer to serve of the board. I was able to quickly get involved in the local IU community, meet IU alumni and engage with current IU students and become a member of the extended IU community. I coupled my positive experiences that I gained as an undergraduate with my professional experience of managing major projects and budgets. As Vice President of Interiors I have managed several major interior renovation and design projects improving the residential living experience for residents.

In my leadership role with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington, I managed a team of dedicated and talented volunteers to host our annual Holiday Auction fundraising event for several years. With the support of our committee, volunteers and our generous community, we far surpassed any previous fundraising event in our history. This experience was meaningful to me because it was a way in which I could contribute and help the lives of those in our community who need it most.

Both of my volunteer experiences helped me to develop a sense of community and shared commitment to causes that are important to me and bring value to others. I look forward to bringing these values to my work at IU in helping to support of fantastic group of alumni volunteers with shared experiences, unique talents, and most importantly a shared love for IU.

I’m a great believer in the phrase “you get what you give,” and I believe that for those of us who are willing to give their time, commitment, energy and talent, we receive the greatest gift, which is making a difference each other’s lives. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet and work with all the dedicated alumni volunteers who make IU Alumni Communities great and celebrate IU in their lives.
