The 7th Annual IUPUI Regatta on Saturday

Another academic year has begun and, not long after the first day of classes gets underway, the month of September rolls around.

September means cooler weather, getting into the swing of classes and academic life, and for the IU-Indianapolis campus, the IUPUI Regatta.

The annual IUPUI Regatta is a canoe race on the downtown Indianapolis canal to benefit student scholarships. It is engineered by the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR) at IUPUI and is a student-run event.

More than just a canoe race, though, the IUPUI Regatta features something for everyone – students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the Indianapolis community as a whole. From the half-mile canoe race to the family festival, from the live entertainment to the available vendors, the Regatta is a fun-filled day for all.

The day of the Regatta is prefaced by a week of activities and fun, Regatta Week, which includes S’mores ‘n Oars, the competitive Natatorium Battleships (finals to be held the morning of the IUPUI Regatta), a 2-day blood drive, and so on. Regatta Week ends with the Rungatta 5K at White River State Park and a Hoodie Allen concert at Carroll Stadium.

In it’s 7th year, the IUPUI Regatta has quickly become a signature event for IUPUI and has grown into a campus tradition. This year’s theme – May the Oars be Ever in Your Favor – is inspired by The Hunger Games trilogy and provides the inspiration for the 7th Annual Regatta Games.

Friendly competition, food, and fun for the whole family – join us on Saturday, September 19th for a campus tradition you won’t want to miss!
