Helping IU Make State-Wide Connections

Back in the late 1800s, IU faculty traveled to every corner of Indiana to provide its residents the opportunity to learn about the arts, sciences, and medicine. In celebration of 200 years of serving Indiana, the IU Office of the Bicentennial has revived this tradition with the Bicentennial Professors Signature Project. Our goal is to engage with all 92 Indiana counties during IU’s Bicentennial year (July 2019-June 2020).

The Bicentennial Professors Project is comprised of 24 IU faculty members with representation from all seven campuses that focus on a variety of timely topics, including:

  • Business and Management
  • Climate Change and Sustainability
  • Community Development
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Education
  • Globalization
  • Health and Wellness
  • Literature and Arts

Our professors are excited to hit the road, but we need your help to meet our goal. These incredible and talented Professors have prepared engaging and accessible presentations on their research and are excited to connect with Hoosier communities. How can you help? The IU Bicentennial is looking to partner with individuals and local organizations to host a Bicentennial Professor to present in your community.

You, our community partners, will provide the space, manage the promotion and marketing, and supply print materials and refreshments (as desired).

If you are interested in bringing a Bicentennial Professor to your area, or you know of an organization that would love this opportunity, please reach out to us at iu200@iu.edu. With your help in making connections, we can further IU’s mission and commitment to public outreach and community engagement.
