The Indiana University Alumni Association would be nothing without our incredible roster of volunteers across the state, country, and world. These amazing alumni create a strong connection to Indiana University and help Indiana thrive. Here in our home state, IU is helping to fulfill the promise of building a stronger Indiana. Our goals are to teach our children, heal the sick, grow the economy, and develop a sustainable infrastructure.
Wondering exactly how IU is keeping up its end of the promise? Enter the brand-new site, Impact. This website is a great resource to learn more about the impact IU is having on the state as a whole, as well as on each of the 92 individual counties. From the number of alumni living in a specific region to the university’s spending by county, the site’s data was compiled through a multi-unit partnership headed by the IUAA. The website’s design allows visitors to select a county or region, with associated data appearing alongside a statewide map.
“We have long known that our alumni are building a stronger Indiana, so it’s fulfilling to see the actual numbers associated with their contributions, alongside the contributions of the university’s many partnerships and programs across [the state],” said J T. Forbes, BA’90, MPA ’96, chief executive officer with the IU Alumni Association.
We hope you, our IU insiders, use this site as a tool to stay in the know with IU’s statewide influence.
In addition to learning more about IU’s impact, volunteers can also nominate fellow alums to be featured in an impact story. These are articles about alumni making a difference in their communities and demonstrating what it means to be an IU alum.
One example of an impact story is alumna Michelle Dayvault, BA’96, executive director of Dress for Success Louisville. She has helped more than 700 women in the southern Indiana region take steps toward economic independence. Read her story.
Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their work? Nominate them on Impact and celebrate how the IU family helps Indiana grow stronger every day.
