Veni, Vidi, Amavi: IU Style

I’m known at the IUAA as the Latin nerd. I took a couple of years of it in high school and still love to correct my coworkers’ usage of the words “alumna” and “alumni” (I’m the former) and sometimes I even misuse the Latin language, too. So, no one should be surprised that I employ Julius Caesar’s “veni, vidi, vici” in our volunteer leaders’ blog. Instead of conquering, however, we at the IUAA learn and love. Our IUAA volunteers came to the Cream and Crimson 2018 Alumni Weekend not only to see other alumni and show love to their Indiana University community—they came to experience the love that only a weekend in Bloomington can provide.

Over those three days, we learned about the programming in your communities that makes you proud. We shared experiences about the students with whom you interact, and the great work you do in making new members of your towns feel welcome. We learned ways that we are making our corporate governance structure more transparent (Lux et Veritas), effective, and engaging.

We are not only incredibly delighted with this past weekend’s work, but we are proud of the ways you make an impact every day: recruiting students, organizing events, raising money for scholarships, and providing opportunities for alumni and friends to stay connected with their alma mater. You are the human face of the Indiana University Alumni Association and for that, we thank you.

Mark your calendars for next year’s Cream and Crimson:  June 6-8, 2019.  Until then, Gloriana Frangipana (not exactly Latin), Hail to Old IU!
