Alumni Spotlight: George Woo

A distinguished and accomplished academic, Dr. George Woo, shares his drive to become a better clinician and practitioner after working for Canada Red Cross drove him attend the Indiana University School of Optometry to pursue his MS and PhD in Physiological Optics.

After spending time at Indiana University, Dr. Woo taught at the University of Waterloo. After six years, he returned to Hong Kong where he became the founding head of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, which includes optometry as a discipline. He then became the Dean of Health and Social Sciences overseeing optometry, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiography, biomedical sciences, and social sciences. An overall passion of his is supporting low vision patients to better their physical and mental health outcomes.

Gladys Yuen received her BA in Journalism from The Media School in 2016 and currently lives and works in Hong Kong. In his interview with Gladys, Professor Woo shares how his IU degrees are helping him lead others in the health field, drive innovative research, and make a difference in the lives of patients.
