Emerging Alumni Leaders: Meet Courtney Robb

“The opportunities were so incredibly endless,” said Courtney Robb, BA’18, on her time as a student at Indiana University. As an Emerging Alumni Leader, Courtney has continued to take advantage of the plentiful opportunities that IU offers to its alumni.

During her time as a student, Courtney became heavily involved in the sports media and broadcasting scene in Bloomington. She discovered her passion in sports media after taking an Introduction to Sports Broadcasting class at the Ernie Pyle School of Journalism, the predecessor to IU’s Media School. One of her fondest memories in that class was an exercise they did in repetitions, where some students would play sports video games while other students would call live play by plays. Courtney covered the Little 500 and worked as a production assistant for the CBS Men’s Final Four, NCAA Basketball National Championship.

After graduating, Courtney accepted a position covering college sports in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) at WCBI TV in Columbus, Mississippi. She remained at that station for four years, and she felt proud to have immersed herself in the local community. Courtney realized that she wanted a career shift that would be less time-intensive, thus she joined a small financial services firm in Naperville, Illinois. She started that position in April of 2022 and has contributed to the IUAA Chicago Chapter ever since. In her interview with IUAA Student Fellow Kaitlin Scott, Courtney shares what led her to IU and what has inspired her involvement with IUAA.
