As a career coach, I am frequently asked to recommend the best online job boards for job vacancies. My response is that the better job boards have some sort of specialization – whether it is by industry, region, or other narrowing factor. Large meta-sites, such as CareerBuilder and Indeed, may have some quality positions on them, but you certainly have to weed through to find them. Professional association job boards are a great example of a place where you may find a greater concentration of quality postings fit to your area of expertise.
Likewise, many recruiters look to narrow the talent pool by targeting specific academic institutions. Recruiters frequently contact me with hopes of recruiting Indiana University alumni because of IU’s stellar reputation. Often, the recruiters are IU alumni themselves who strongly believe in the IU product and want to provide quality opportunities for fellow alumni.
To help facilitate the IU network, the Indiana University Alumni Association Professional Enrichment team is proud to introduce the IU Alumni Association Job Board on our new career management platform. Whether you are an employer with positions to fill or a job seeker looking for new opportunities (or both), we invite you to create an account. Not only can you look for and post job opportunities, but you can also take a career interest survey, build your resume, and view a multitude of resources in the library.
If you’d like more information on our job board or other career coaching resources, please email me at careers@alumni.iu.edu. And, please share this resource with the IU alumni in your network.
For our alumni leaders who are creating newsletters and e-blasts to share with your constituents, please feel free to use the text below.
