Spotlight: Neal-Marshall Alumna Masah SamForay

This week we are profiling another alumni leader from one of our 173 chartered alumni communities.  Masah SamForay lives in Chicago and is a member of the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club.  She was interviewed by Baindu Lucy Bayon, Ph.D., Vice President of Neal-Marshall.

When did you attend Indiana University? I attended college from 1999-2002, when I received my B.A. in Psychology. I went immediately into the IU School of Law- Bloomington (now known as the Indiana University Maurer School of Law) from 2002-2005, graduating with my Juris Doctorate.

What is your fondest memory of Indiana University? My fondest memory was my last year of undergraduate studies when our men’s basketball team made it to The Final Four. The campus was so alive! The parties, the rallies, the riot police, and the school pride- it was electric! I cannot think of a better way to have ended my college days.

What have you been up to since your time at Indiana University? After law school, I took my first legal job in Chicago, and I have been here ever since. I was an Assistant State’s Attorney for Will County, assigned primarily to the domestic violence unit. I was recruited from there to a downtown firm handling complex family law cases, and soon thereafter, I caught the entrepreneurial bug, and opened up my own law firm. I have been a firm owner since 2011 and I love it! At my law firm, The Foray Firm, Inc., we focus exclusively on family law (i.e. divorce, custody, visitation, child support and domestic violence). We have two locations in the Chicagoland area (Homewood and Joliet), and we will break ground on our 3rd location, in Atlanta, GA, in July 2018. And (HUGE NEWS!) we are currently in negotiations for a 4th location in Lake County, Indiana. We hope to open our Indiana office by December 2018. I am extremely excited about returning back home to the Hoosier State.

How do you stay connected to friends you made while at Indiana University? How do I stay connected? Facebook! When my schedule allows, I also attend IU law alumni receptions in Chicago. I still talk on a regular basis with friends I met in law school, who live around the world now (Paris, London, D.C., etc.).

And as far as my friends from undergrad, they remain my closest friends to this day. I will always treasure the relationships and times I had at IU.

Go Big Red!
