This week we have an uplifting spotlight highlighting an amazing volunteer leader, Nicole DuPriest. Nicole graduated from the Kelley School of Business on the Bloomington Campus in Finance Real Estate and is currently the president of the IUAA San Antonio Chapter in Texas. She first became involved with the IU Alumni Association when she moved to San Antonio in 2012 and wanted to meet new people with a common background of attending IU. She said that the people she met when she first joined became some of her closest friends and made her transition from the Midwest to Texas easier.
Nicole says that her favorite part of volunteering with the IU Alumni Association is that she loves the camaraderie of the group and how it has allowed her to meet new people in a home that was once very new. She said, “The Association has opened me up to local organizations and I have learned great things about what they are doing throughout San Antonio.”
When asked what she would tell someone who is thinking about volunteering she said, “I always just tell my story. The first game watch I went to, I met some amazing people that I am still friends with today. IUAA has helped me get involved with my new community while still having a common love of IU. It’s just a great way to meet new people and learn more about your local city.”
Thank you, Nicole, for all your hard work and inspiring dedication to Indiana University and the IU Alumni Association. We are honored to have someone like you on our volunteer team and we can’t wait to see the impact you will make in your community in the future.
