We have the perfect opportunity for YOU!
The IU Alumni Association now offers IUvisors, a free alumni-to-alumni advising platform. Whether you’re an alumnus looking for help with job interviews or an alumna with many networking connections to offer, we’re linking IU alumni with one another to boost their careers.
How does this work you ask?
Right now we are recruiting advisors only. We want to make IUvisors a great tool for our alums. You can help. Everyone’s got something to give. Sign up as an advisor today.
It’s simple:
- Create an advisor login at IU.evisors.com using an email address and password or your LinkedIn account.
- Migrate your LinkedIn profile or answer a few questions about your education, career background, and expertise.
- Set your own schedule, availability, and contact preferences. Advise as few or as many alumni as your schedule allows!
- Sit back and wait for your first advising request.
Once you register your profile will be reviewed and approved. In January 2015 we will begin inviting alumni to populate the site as advisees. They will be able to select your profile and request a meeting to work with you. You may then choose to accept the meeting if the date, time, and topic work for you.
Is it safe? Will my contact information be visible to all?
Yes, it is safe and confidential! Your contact information is not visible in your profile. The IUvisors platform sends reminders about your meeting and when the time comes connects your meeting through the same line that you and the advisee dial into. All contact is managed through the IUvisors system and personal information is never exchanged.
What else should I know?
You are not restricted by location. You can serve as an advisor anywhere in the world and meet with the advisee by phone. The meetings are not in person. You can help from a distance and when your schedule allows. We do not dictate a time requirement so you alone control your schedule and availability.
Also, there is a library of career development focused webinars available to all users. You may be inspired by one of the professional videos in the library or use the content as an example in your meeting.
