This week’s Emerging Alumni Leader is Thrasher Carmichael, BA’17, MHA’19, and MPH’19. He discusses the various facets of his IUPUI education and alumni involvement with IUAA Student Fellow Kaitlin Scott.

Thrasher grew up a triplet in Greenwood, Indiana and was grateful that his parents instilled in him the value of education. When it came time to make a college decision, Thrasher knew that IUPUI would provide him with outstanding opportunities, Indianapolis connections, and an affordable path to a degree. He stressed the importance and value of having seasoned and invested mentors as both a student and young professional. As an Eskenazi Health Scholar through the Fairbanks School of Public Health, Thrasher felt prepared with proficient communication and critical decision-making skills to be launched in a career as a leader. “You will never find a better group of mentors and supporters that rally around student success,” said Thrasher on the culture of support at IUPUI.

Thrasher is currently a member of the IUPUI Alumni Council, which provides administrative support to IUPUI’s Alumni Office. He is proud to be an IUPUI alumnus, and he strives to provide the same unparalleled opportunities for future students and young alumni. He encourages fellow alumni to reach out to their local alumni chapter and find fulfilling ways to give back.
