Emerging Alumni Leaders: Meet Zoe Berensztein

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Zoe Berensztein, BA’22, oozes with IU pride. Her family relocated to Bloomington, Indiana when she was 13 years old, making her familiar with IU’s presence in the community. “The thing when you grow up in Bloomington is that you know how great IU is, and you’re very familiar with everything going on, so I compared every other college to Indiana.” When it was time for her to make a college decision, Zoe said “none of the comparable schools held a candle to IU. There just was no other option.”

Zoe is also an alumna of the IUAA Student Fellows Program, having been an Events and Programming Student Fellow from 2020-2022. She gained experience working in higher education fundraising at her Eskenazi Museum of Art placement through the IU Foundation’s Summer Intern Program. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago to intern for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. “There’s a lot of hype around getting a full-time job after graduation, but I decided to give it a go and see what came out of it,” said Zoe. That role allowed her to hone in on her skills for an external organization and prepared her with awareness of the Chicago alumni relations space. In the fall of 2022, she accepted a full time role in alumni relations at DePaul University’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

In her interview with IUAA Student Fellow Kaitlin Scott, Zoe expresses her overwhelming pride of being an IU alumna, her cherished memories from her undergraduate involvements, and the advice she would give to young alumni like herself.
